The Giver of the Most Perfect Gifts

I have my mission to never tire of being a witness to Allah SWT's innumerable blessings. Allah SWT says in the Quran, "If you tried to count Allah's blessings, you would never be able to number them" (Quran 16:18) and how true this is! Just before writing this love letter, I did a small activity where I put a 1-minute timer and started listing down some of the blessings in my life, and this is what I came up with in just under 60 seconds:

His Guidance
His Beautiful Names
This Faith
The blessed Quran
Rasulullah

Duas and Zikirs

Solah + Sujuud
My entire family
Noor + Khair
My companions
The Angels rooting for us
Peace and security
Time
Good health
Books
The art / science of Tajwid
The capacity to love
The abundance of colours, flavours, textures, languages and smells
The ability to write, think, speak, and share
The curiosity to learn
The chance to serve
The inclination to forgive
The choice to be gentle and patient
The beauty in Nature
Potatoes (sweet potatoes, baby potatoes, normal potatoes)
Kimchi

I had many more at the top of my head (and I wrote this one hour before Iftar, hence the last two items on the list
🤷‍♀️), but the buzzer soon went off, and the first thing I thought of was, "Wow, just the fact that Allah SWT allowed me to sit here and think of His blessings is a blessing in and of itself!"

And so... I thought I was set.

I thought, "Yeah, I understand how important it is to be grateful, Allah SWT is always showering us with blessings etc etc. Khalas, Alhamdulillah, let's get on with our day."

But of course, Allah SWT always has beautiful surprises in store for us, and so it was written that my journey of learning about His Blessings continues.

And we all know the one Ayah that Allah SWT repeats (over 31 times) in this Surah in which He invites us to think and ponder, "So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny?".
And as the Ayah kept repeating as we kept reciting, it suddenly hit me that I had missed THE ONE KEY FACTOR in remembering His Blessings all this time:

I had missed ar-Rahman Himself.

And I had missed Him because I was so attached to the gifts that I had forgotten the Giver of these Gifts Himself: ar-Rahman.

Even this blessed month that we love is a gift from ar-Rahman. Every single good thing we have been able to do this month has only been because of ar-Rahman, and unlike Ramadan, ar-Rahman will always be with us

I now realise that the Biggest Blessing we will ever have is Allah SWT. And if I were to sit down and list down my blessings all over again, I would not even need 60 seconds because Allah SWT is the only thing I need on that list. And that by being with Allah SWT, I simply would have everything.

With Allah SWT, I am fulfilled.
With Allah SWT, I am complete.
With Allah SWT, I am most blessed.
